Page history last edited by Lisa Gordis 16 years, 4 months ago

Bibliographical information:

Sleator, William. Into the Dream. Illus. Ruth Sanderson. New York: E. P. Dutton, 1979.

Brief summary:

Paul has a frightening and vivid dream which repeats, and comes to believe that it's supposed to tell him something. He also learns that a schoolmate is having the same dream, and they later learn that they were both staying in the same hotel when a UFO was sighted. Their research into their experience leads them to an extraordinary child, his mother, and their dog, whom they try to help.

Comments:

The mystery is compelling and pleasantly scary. Sleator doesn't tie up all the loose ends, which leaves a sense of unease at the end of the novel.

Grade/Age level:

Grades 4-8

Cautions:

The idea of government agents who might want to use a child as a secret weapon might be alarming to some children.

If you like this book, you might also like . . .
