Bibliographical information:
Gannett, Ruth Stiles. Elmer and the Dragon. 1950. New York, Random House, 1987.
Book 2 of the My Father's Dragon trilogy. Sequel to My Father's Dragon.
Brief summary:
Elmer and the dragon head for Elmer's home in Nevergreen City, but are blown off course by a storm. They find themselves on Feather Island, where they clear up a mystery for King Can XI and the canaries before flying Elmer home to Popsicornia.
Comments:
Though it's not quite as entertaining as My Father's Dragon, Elmer and the Dragon is still very good. My five-year-old was utterly enthralled, and insisted on immediately starting the third book as soon as we were done.
Grade/Age level:
Ages 4-6 for reading aloud, ages 5-8 for independent reading.
