Brief summary:

Trixie and her dad go to the laundromat. On the way home, Trixie becomes upset, and attempts to communicate her dismay. When they return home, her mother realizes that Knuffle Bunny, her beloved toy, is missing. After a frantic search, Trixie's reunion with Knuffle Bunny leads to her first words.

 

Comments:

This is a sweet and funny story. Willens captures Trixie's frustration at not being able to communicate her concern. The illustrations blend photographs of Brooklyn wtih cartoons of the characters.
