Lois Lowry, Anastasia Krupnik

Page history last edited by Lisa Gordis 13 years, 7 months ago

Bibliographical information:

Lowry, Lois. Anastasia Krupnik. 1979. New York: Bantam Doubleday Dell, 1993.

Brief summary:

Ten-year-old Anastasia has a secret green notebook in which she keeps a running list of things she loves and things she hates. Some list items are stable, including "Making Lists," which she loves. But others shift as mercurial Anastasia (as she describes herself) experiences a year of small and large milestones.

Comments:

Anastasia's voice is funny and irreverent, but also sweet. My eight-year-old enjoyed the humor of the book, but also appreciated the serious sweetness of Anastasia's experiences, including her growing understanding of her elderly grandmother.

Grade/Age level:

Grades 2-5?
