When Daniel and his older sister Beatrice are sent to live with their parents' friend, Dr. Ernest Drake, they have no idea that their host also keeps and studies dragons. They join Dr. Drake's classes in dragonology and eventually help stop the evil Ignatius Crook from obtaining the Dragon's Eye, a gem able to make its owner the Dragon Master.
