Page history last edited by Shoshana Flax 2 yrs ago

Bibliographical information:

Catellucci, Cecil, and JIm Rugg. The Plain Janes. New York: DC Comics, 2007.

Brief summary:

After she is injured in a bombing, Jane's frightened parents move her to the suburbs. She becomes friends with three other Janes, and they form P.L.A.I.N. (People Loving Art in Neighborhoods), a club that uses "art attacks"  to express itself throughout the town.

Comments:

This is a great combination of heavy and light content. It deals well with a character who's been through a traumatic experience, and keeps everyting on a level that people who have not been through such an experience can understand.

Grade/Age level:

Ages 12 and up

Cautions:

Mature themes - a bombing and its aftereffects are a major element of this story.
